Q. How long do they live for?
A. They live about 2-3 years.
Q. What do they eat?
A. They eat blood worms and special formulated betta fish food. It's cool because you can buy food that enhances their color.
Q. What kind of cage and bedding do I need?
A. They can survive in a small fish bowl with no filter and no heating.
Q. Should I have more than one?
A. You can, but never 2 males because they'll kill eachother. You can have more than one female or 2 females and a male. They are however content to be alone.
Q. How much will this set me back?
A. Not a whole lot. I bought Kauffman along with his bowl for $12. Food costs about $5 for a couple months worth.
Q. What are their common health problems?
A. Fish are pretty tough. They may however get fin rot.
Q. Are they easy to find in pet shops?
A. Yes, they are very popular due to their maintenance.
Q. What kind of maintenance do they require?
A. They are very low maintenance. Feed them a pinch of food twice a day, all they'll eat in 10 minutes. Make sure to clean their bowls regularly if you don't have a filter.
Q. When do they sleep?
A. Fish have no set sleep pattern so it's really hard to say
Q. Do they make noise?
A. All the time, no rest from the loud screams of them. J/k. They make no noise what-so-ever.
