Sugar Gliders

**FAQ**

Q. How long do they live for?
A. They can live anywhere from 8-12 years.

Q. What do they eat?
A. Malakai eats chicken weiners and fruit cups. As a treat she gets 1 mealworm a day (she rarely eats it) and boiled egg about once a week.

Q. What kind of cage and bedding do I need?
A. The taller the cage the better. She lives in a bird cage. As usual, aspen bedding is the best to use. Be sure to include a house of some description as they need a safe place to sleep.

Q. Should I have more than one?
A. They enjoy the company of two, however, if you only get one, make sure to give it a lot of attention.

Q. How much will this set me back?
A. Malakai cost us $300 and her cage was $20 because we got a great deal on it.

Q. What are their common health problems?
A. Watch out for calcium deficiency. Try to feed them plain yogurt once a week. If they won't eat it plain, try mixing a little honey in with it.

Q. Are they easy to find in pet stores?
A. No, I found one once at one pet store, and we bought her. Make sure to call around first.

Q. What kind of maintenance do they require?
A. They are high maintenance. They need at least an hour of out time a night. You can't feed them pellet food so you'll be cutting up meat and fruit for approx. the next 5475 nights.

Q. When do they sleep?
A. They are nocturnal and usually wake up around 11 pm at which point they'll need out time.

Q. Do they make noise?
A. They make all sorts of noises. They make a "crabbing" sound when they're mad. She also makes a "sneezing" sound if she's in bed and wants to be left alone.
